Weaving Wishlist

Weaving Wishlist || SonoraHandmade Loom

Sonora Handmade LoomHi friends! Recently Jenny from SonoraHandmade sent me one of her new looms and I knew right away I just had to add it to the weaving wishlist! This loom is arcylic, which gives it a really fun bling vibe.  I felt pretty fancy weaving on this loom, and it inspired me to bring out my cooler toned yarns.

There are three different sizes available of these fun looms. And also a really cute comb and needle to weave with. You can find all the details in the SonoraHandmade shop here!

Sonora Handmade LoomI got the medium loom, which is a great size for a quick little weave and testing some techniques out. Which reminds me of one such test weave I made that turned out TERRIBLE! Ha! And I finished that sucker to the end too. Now it rests peacefully in a drawer, because I have no idea what to do with it. It makes me laugh, because usually I stop myself early if a weave isn’t working out and I un-do it. Not with this one, I guess I was very optimistic that I would like it at the end. Have you woven a weave like that too? All the way to the end, where it’s off the loom and ready to hang? Maybe we need an ugly weave exchange so we no longer have to look at near misses. On the positive side though, mistakes are the greatest teachers.

Oh, this also reminded me, has anyone gotten anywhere with their weaving sampler and want to share some thoughts/pictures? If so reach out to me! (And for those of you who don’t know, the post on what I’m talking about is here).

For those new to weaving, I have a whole weaving round-up for beginners here!

Happy Weaving!

    I have a particularly ugly weaving that I made for a friend. It was supposed to be her birthday present when she returned from a missions trip. Instead it is rolled up in a Ziploc bag hidden away at the bottom of my weaving stash, hopefully to never see the light of day again! I still grimace whenever I think about it lol I’ve promised to make her another weaving instead. This time something much prettier to look at and less like a huge weirdo mess.

      Yes! That’s pretty much how I feel, haha. I just cringe when I see my terrible weave, maybe I should hide it away too. Thanks for sharing Jessica!

    Hi there! I just got a Sonora loom and I’m wondering how you warped it! My first two attempts were standard front to back but I want to know how to warp and tie off so I can achieve the top loops to hang my next weaving. Thanks!

      I actually have a video of how to warp the Sonora loom in this post here https://www.theweavingloom.com/weaving-lessons-warping-your-loom-videos/

      To use the top warp loops to hang your weave, you’ll want to tie the start of the warp thread and the end of the warp thread on the bottom of the loom. This way all the warps at the top of the loom will be warp loops.
